Dan Colin - Bio
April 2004 to present, Director
of Global Security and Privacy Officer for Hospira, Lake Forest, IL. Developed the
Global Security department for Hospira which was a division of Abbott Labs and
spun off in 2004. Hospira is a multinational corporation with plants,
commercial offices and distribution centers in over 49 countries and has an
employee base of nearly 20,000. Created a unified Global Security department by
centralizing all security functions into one organization by developing standardized
policies, procedures, training and personnel. Other programs created were; a
product protection program, one access control system globally, built a traveler
safety program and integrated Records Management into the Global Security
department. Helped design and administer a case management database system with
Human Resources, Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC), and Internal Audit.
Became Privacy Officer in 2007
and developed the company's strategy for data privacy and the Safe Harbor
compliance program. Chairperson of the Information Risk Committee which
resulted in the company's Data Classification program. And chairs the Corporate
Crisis Management team.
Prior to Hospira, work history consisted
of; manager of investigations in Global Security at Abbott Labs for three years.
Three years at Ameritech and before corporate life, twenty (20) years with the
Lake County Sheriff's Police, Waukegan, IL. Eighteen years of which were spent
in the criminal investigation division and became head of the White Collar Crime
task force, member of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force, senior hostage
negotiator with the Special Response Unit and firearms instructor.
Holds a Masters degree in Law
Enforcement Administration from Western Illinois University and a BA in
behavioral modification from National Louis University, Evanston, IL. Member of
ISMA, ASIS (CPP certified) and IAPP.
